(Williamsburg Health Foundation Team during the kick off rally - Day of Caring Chair, Judi Barnett is the one We dedicate this year to what matters . . . community heroes. Our annual Day of Caring was a Day of Caring, Remembrance and Healing. Volunteers gathered at 8am at the Williamsburg Music Theatre in Norge for a pep really to begin the day. The sun was shinging, faces were smiling and everyone was looking forward to their day of work. At 5:00pm volunteers gathered at the Historic Triangle Community Service Building to share their day's experiences and enjoyed a dinner provided in-kind by Outback Steak House and dessert from Ben& Jerry's. There was a program to close the day's activities, the winners of the 2003 poster contest were awarded their prizes and the 2003 campaign was kicked off We had a total of aprox. 800 volunteers at over 70 project sites which created over 5,500 volunteer hours on this ONE DAY! Also on this special day of caring, remembrance and healing, a new memorial bench was placed behind the City of Williamsburg Fire Station. We would like to place memorial benches at a James City County and York County fire station in 2004.
