The mission of the Greater Williamsburg Housing Collaborative is to build a network of service providers to strategize, develop, and support efforts to reduce homelessness and serve the precariously housed in the Greater Williamsburg community.
Objective
The Greater Williamsburg Housing Collaborative provides housing and housing-related services to support persons in the Greater Williamsburg community who cannot afford housing and who need assistance in planning for a financially stable future. The Collaborative encourages financial stability for each participant by helping them to secure housing, then reducing rental assistance as the client’s income and capacities are increased through wrap-around services and supports.
Get Involved
The Housing Collaborative seeks to develop a larger resource network for member agencies to draw on as they continue to serve persons facing housing challenges. A vital piece in developing a resource network includes building relationships with local property management organizations and individual landlords in order the make affordable housing options more accessible for clients served by the Collaborative. If you are a landlord interested in working with the Housing Collaborative, contact Sharon Gibson-Ellis at 757-253-2264 or sharon.gibson-ellis@uwgw.org.
The Collaborative also seeks community members who are able to provide housing assistance and supports needed by our housing clients such as mentoring, transportation, occasional child care, leads on employment opportunities, and participation in “adopt a family” program for seasonal holidays.
