Nationwide identification and registration program for those with dementia. Program operates at a community level to provide 24-hour assistance whether a person becomes lost locally or far from home. Program works with local police and sheriffs’ office to help locate persons with dementia who have wandered.

  • Outpatient counseling services to children, adolescents and adults with behavioral health care needs.
  • Independent living skills instruction and support services to individuals with serious mental illness or dually diagnosed substance use disorders.
  • Services in conjunction with community support/case management, therapy and day support.
  • Emergency Services 24 hour/365 days per year and crisis interventions to individuals and families with mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance use disorder emergencies
  • Services are available to citizens of Williamsburg, James City County, York County and Poquoson. Fee Based on ability to pay and third party reimbursers. No one is denied based on inability to pay.
 


Colonial CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)

A Court Appointed Special Advocate is a well trained volunteer citizen who is appointed by the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Judge to represent the best interest of a child in court. These children are involved in the court system through no fault of their own, but by the shortcomings of their parents or other caregivers. These volunteers serve as child advocates in cases of abuse and neglect, enabling Judges to make more informed decisions. CASA’s written reports to the Judge on matters including placement, visitation, and provision of services. In the course of performing this duty, CASA’s talk with the child he/she represents, parents, family members, social workers, school officials, health providers and others who are knowledgeable about the child’s/families situation. Volunteers must undergo background checks, thorough screening, and a 40 hour training program.

The Jamestown 4-H Center is dedicated to the individual development of youth and adults through experiential learning, to promote their advancement of life skills, knowledge, and attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing and contributing members of society, socially and environmentally. The 4-H Center holds several weekend specialty camps throughout the year, nine weeks of summer camp, and several seasonal retreats and school field trips. Volunteer Educational Instructors are needed to teach youth ages 9 to 14 to include archery, marine science, forest ecology, environmental issues, natural science, geology, orienteering, group initiatives, animal habitation, canoeing and kayaking. Volunteers are also needed for our maintenance and horticulture to maintain buildings and grounds and planning and maintaining gardens and flowerbeds. Volunteers will be trained in all areas if needed.

Olde Towne Medical Center is a public-private partnership that has been providing primary and preventive medical and dental care to Greater Williamsburg’s uninsured and Medicare/Medicaid residents since 1993. Operating as a family practice, OTMC staff include: Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Dentists and Dental Hygienists along with many Volunteer Providers. Services provided include primary medical care, physical exams, pediatric and children services, screening for health and developmental problems, women’s’ health, patient education and family support, mental health services, immunizations, oral health care and community case management referrals to other resources and medical specialists.

The Williamsburg Community Health Foundation, a private nonprofit organization, supports programs that improve the health of people living in Williamsburg and surrounding counties. Those programs mainly serve uninsured or underinsured citizens by enhancing access to quality health services and promoting responsible health practices. The foundation was formed in 1996. Since then it has given more than $44 million to support community health programs in the area.
