#10 United Way Information & Referral - 3077 Chicahominy Rd. - Finish a painting project (laundry room area). Yard work - general clean up, cut grass, etc. Lawnmower provided, but other tools would be useful. Also has some left over construction garbage that needs to be hauled off, plastic protection needs to be installed around front porch and a window A/C
unit needs to be installed.
Need gloves, painting tools - brushes, roller, etc. Paint is provided

#26 Volunteer Center - Walmart Food Collection Drive - Volunteers to collect, sort, pack and possibly transport non-perishable food items to local agencies, which will include Fish, A Gift from Ben, Grove Christian Outreach Center, etc. Donation area will be outside Walmart on FRIDAY, September 10. This is a combined project with the Volunteer Center of the Peninsula.
4 - 6 volunteers for each 2 hour shift (4 shifts 9am to 11am, 11am to 1pm, 1pm to 3pm and 3pm to 5pm) or 10 to 12 volunteers for the whole day - remember, this is on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10!

Day of Caring Committee donate a bench to the community, this is the 3rd year of this tradition, the 1st year the benches were placed at the elementary schools. Last year a bench was placed at the City of Williamsburg Fire Department, this year a bench will be placed at Waller Mill Park for all the members of our community to enjoy. The bench will be dedicated to the community on Thursday, September 9th at 10:30a.m. - you are welcome to stop by and see the dedication.

If you know of a need in the community that could become a Day of Caring Project, or if your business wants to volunteer for their own project (for example - an employee has been out of work due to surgery and needs some light house maintenance, or a co-workers grandmother is in a nursing home that could use some entertainment for a few hours) PLEASE call or email Zena at 253-2264, myallz@uwgw.org
If your company cannot donate the time of employees to work on a project but could make a
materials donation, please let us know.
Donations (paint, plants, mulch, painting supplies, etc.) to support projects will be greatfully accepted.

All volunteers are invited to the Day of Caring Kick-Off Rally at 8:00a.m. on September 9th, at Sentara-Williamsburg Community Hospital's Outpatient Care Center Parking Lot. From there, the volunteers will depart for their projects at the local United Way agencies and other community and government service organizations in James City County, City of Williamsburg and Upper York County.
All volunteers are then invited, as special guests, to the Community Service Building,
312 Waller Mill Road, at 5:00pm to share their day's experiences. Outback Steakhouse
and Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream will provide dinner and dessert for all the volunteers.
