For individuals who would like to contribute systematically without having to be reminded to send a check or logon to a website, payroll deduction is often available as an option.  In order to take advantage of this program, please title an e-mail "systematic giving" and send it to Barbara Hood.  Please include your name and contact information and a United Way of Greater Williamsburg associate will talk to you about the process of working with your bank to facilitate the deduction.

Planned Giving
Planned giving is the process through which donors leave a charitable bequest through their will or other method of estate planning to a favorite cause. Sometimes charitable bequests on behalf of an estate can work to the benefit of the estate’s primary beneficiaries courtesy of the current tax laws and is a wonderful way to provide a pre-planned gift. You should consult with your tax advisor or financial planner or a CPA to thoroughly understand all the details, but a wealth of information about the process is contained at the following web site: http://www.leavealegacy.org.

If you are interested in leaving a planned gift through your estate, know that the United Way of Greater Williamsburg accepts gifts in the form of legacies. For more information, please call our office at (757) 253-2264 and ask to speak to the Planned Giving/Charitable Legacy associate.
