Busch Gardens & Water Country, USA
Our team from Busch Gardens and Water Country USA participated in United Way of Greater Williamsburg’s 19th annual Day of Caring.
We selected the Barlow Road Beautification Preservation Project, a federally funded program working on affordable housing rehabilitation and construction in this neighborhood. Over 22 homes will be impacted by this grant, however there were more homes in the neighborhood that needed yard work and maintenance and that’s where our team came to help.
Thank you to the following team members who volunteered to be a part of this day.

Together we improved 6 homes. We mowed lawns, trimmed trees and hedges and removed large amounts of debris at 4 homes. These older families did not have the tools or the capability to do this on their own. We were originally were scheduled to do2 large yards, but our team worked so quickly and were so dedicated to the project that we helped out at 2 more yards when approached by the neighbors. When people start working on homes in a neighborhood it becomes contagious and everyone wants to improve their home just a little more.
We painted a back porch and wheelchair ramp at one home, an older gentleman’s front porch and then we repainted an entire home, including her shutters and window trim. Our paint team returned the following day to repaint non-skid on the wheelchair ramp to refresh and make it safe.
The neighbors were impressed by the hard work our team performed. The praise and thanks from the families was overwhelming. We are proud to represent our parks within the community and it was an honor to make such a difference to so many people. ~ Busch Gardens Employees
We would like to thank Busch Gardens and Water Country USA for LIVING UNITED. If you are interested in participating in the 2012 Day of Caring, stay tuned for updates.
